Green Eggs and Hammocks XCHAIR Frame

Not centered Correctly2

I recently bought the frame to hang a jumbo hammock on. The Jumbo fits beautifully unfortunately the assembled stand (without any hardware) does not stand centered with the hammock on a flat level area (concrete and level :) )One can definitely see this when the hammock hangs. The one arm extends weird to one side when it should be about 10 degrees inward but cannot be shifted due to the valley where the top steel arm slides on. When I sit in it my body centers over one of the legs rather than between the two arms/legs. We will try to fix it drilling a few holes into it and bolting it once we straighten the one side to the correct center. I can sit in it okay but any shifting will make it tip. If I was to tell a friend I would probably advise them to go with any of the square hammock frames. The square ones look like their center of gravity is in the middle rather than out to either side. Well I thought this design would be good - I will probably go out and get the square frame so I don't have to worry about tipping if the bolts don't work. :(More detail ...

Hammock Chair

beginning of a Hammock epidemic4

I really love my new hammocks and love that they come with the hardware needed to put them up. We went and got more chain and some more bolts to allow them to be hung on both the front and back porches. The quality of the swings is really good. I gave them a 4 instead of a 5 because I'm not sure how well they will handle the weather. These chairs however are pretty and incredibly comfortable. My friends all want hammocks like this now too!More detail ...

Outback Chair CCH-237 Charleston Rope Chair

Bliss no more -- it broke! no stars (can't edit this)5

My OLD review: I had used a friend's hammock chair before buying my own but his was made of very thin synthetic threads that catch quite easily on buttons etc. Not so with the Charleston! The cotton rope that makes up the weave is very comfortable to sit in all on its own or with the chair cushion that is provided and if it happens to catch on something it's no big deal. All I have to monitor with the kids is how far they swing...

I love it my wife loves it my kids love it. Can't wait to take it camping this Summer (though I may never leave the chair. Someone else has fire duty from now on).

AND NOW: well the thing broke repeatedly and in multiple places. The top part broke within a couple of months at which point I filled out my warranty card and received a nice e-mail asking if I would send photos. When I finally got around to sending the photos they included the several other places where the strands had simply snapped. I have not heard from Outback since sending the photos. DO NOT BUY THIS! Feels great to start then falls to pieces. Total rip-off.More detail ...

Omni Swings n' Things 510 Rope Hammock Chair Natural

great; weight limit & hardware5

This is a beautiful sturdy well-designed product. At first I thought it would look silly in a New England apartment but then I sat in it and stopped caring. It's that comfortable. It's also fairly unobstrusive and in a pinch (toddlers visiting? landlord dropping by?) it's easy to substitute a hanging plant or just unhook the chain from the ceiling altogether.

As far as safety if you install it correctly you have nothing to worry about; yes it will hold two people at once. :-) You'll need to buy a length of chain at the hardware store -- ask for 3/16" link 750-lb test and get one or two S-hooks that fit through a link. The chair itself is rated to support up to 500 lbs. Finally a 2" x 4" ceiling joist will support 450 lbs over a 10-foot span before it begins to bow or buckle. Recommended . . . enjoy!More detail ...

Cotton Hammock Chair

Well worth the money5

This may seem too inexpensive to believe but it is a fabulous chair. Ours has lasted for two years now and is going strong. It is REALLY COMFORTABLE and has quickly become everyone's favorite outdoor seat. It DOES stretch from sitting in it so you'll need to retie it occasionally (like once or twice a season depending on amount of use) to keep people's rear ends from touching the ground! But it's really really really comfortable (and fun to swing in too). Personaly I can't see how the more expensive varieties would be that much different to be worth so much more money.More detail ...

Byer of Maine Model A4045 Luna Hanging Chair Stand White

Hammock Chair Stand4

The stand is very nice once put together. That is a task that should have at least 2 people. And put it together exactly where you intend to use it as it is not easily moved from room to room. But once you have it up it is very nice - with only a little bending when you sit or swing.More detail ...

Strathwood Portable Folding Hammock with Carry Bag Chocolate Fabric Champagne Frame

Not a hammock1

Ok so I ordered this naively. Those of you liked this product have never laid in a hammock. There is this incredible womb-like property a hammock has mostly because the material of the hammock assumes your shape and because of that heady swaying motion that almost on contact transports you to a warm fuzzy place. This is not that. This is a cot. The material is a hard resin with no give and more importantly there are four points of contact not the two that a hammock traditionally has i.e. NO SWAY whatsoever. I was soooo disappointed. Nicely made but it's a nicely made cot not a hammock. I wouldn't say it's even remotely like the experience of laying in a hammock. More detail ...

Ultimate Air Chair : Deep Red Complete with All Accessories

Good Value4

The item is fun. We hung two in the screen room and two under the deck. It's a little too "ropey". The "foot sling" tends to squeeze together and become uncomfortable on one's ankles. The cup holder is a bit strange to hang and never seems to be at a convenient height but the chair itself is very comfy and a deal for the money. The only other objection I have is that the instructions are vague and there is NO indication of the weight limit. (You can get that info on Amazon - 250# limit). Choose a VERY sturdy eye hook to hang it.More detail ...

Green Eggs and Hammocks Xchair-Indoor/Outdoor Hammock and Stand

Short review -- I'm going for a nap5

I slept in hammocks for years and have always wanted one that would fit into a house and not pull the door frames down. On Father's Day I got my wish. The XChair does exactly what it claims. It takes no time -- and no tools -- to assemble it's stable and robust and the hammock adjusts from swinging chair to full length (at least for my 5' 10" frame) with a wriggle or two.

Gadgets rarely live up to their hype -- yes Roomba I'm talking to you -- but the XChair is everything it says it is. I'm getting one for the office...More detail ...
